So what exactly is SphereplayTM? At Tryout Toys, we define Sphereplay as the art of rolling, balancing, dancing and playing with spheres. An infinite and elemental style of play; there are some general principles, but there are no rules. There is no right way or wrong way to play because it is essentially all about individual style. Teaching is one the things we love to do at TryOut Toys. Between our SPHEREPLAY VIDEO and bringing the Play-4-All to all kinds of events, we've taught tens of thousands of people of all ages how to Sphereplay.
Here are a few basics that we've found make learning easier:
- The sphere will fall to the ground. There's not too much we can do about gravity so keep on trying.
- The more you play, the better you get.
The better you get, the more you play. Get it?
- Play really hard with BOTH sides of your body. Try to balance your skills so that you work as a whole body instead of a weaker side and a stronger side. Sphereplay is really, really good for this, but only if you make the effort. Besides, how else will you be able to do smooth transfers and body rolls?
- Try Sphereplaying with music. Remember that it's totally ok to move your feet, bend your knees, use your body and BREATHE. It can feel like the sphere is rolling around you, but it can also feel like you are moving around the sphere.
